Cosmetic Dentistry and Teeth Whitening
Over time our teeth can become stained and discoloured due to the life style choices we make. We can help improve the lustre of your teeth and make them feel fresh and clean in a number of ways.
Hygiene/ Therapy treatments
We encourage our patients to regularly visit one of our dental therapists and hygienists for simple cleaning and polishing procedures. This will improve and maintain the health of your teeth and gums, fighting off periodontal (gum) disease and help you keep your teeth for life. It will also considerably whiten your teeth by removing surface ‘extrinsic’ staining caused by red wine, tea, coffee and smoking.
Teeth Whitening (bleaching)
Often your teeth may develop deep ‘intrinsic’ staining making your teeth appear more yellow. Some early drug treatments and antibiotics or even excessive fluoride use may have caused unsightly stains and marks on your teeth.
Our professional teeth whitening treatments use hydrogen peroxide gel within custom made trays that fit comfortably over your teeth. These are worn for approximately an hour each day over a two week period. The results can be dramatic and may improve your confidence encouraging you to show off that smile!
Airflow Polishing
If you have considerable staining and discoloured teeth our new airflow treatments can be beneficial. Although not a teeth whitening treatment as such, airflow is a very cost effective way to dramatically and immediately improve the brightness of your teeth.
Airflow uses a combination of air, water jets and lemon sodium bicarbonate powder to ‘blast’ your teeth clean, especially in those awkward small nooks and crannies that are hard to reach with your tooth brush. Because no chemicals are used the treatment is completely safe and risk free but still leaves amazing results.
Ceramic Veneers and Crowns
If your teeth are not only discoloured but also chipped or misaligned and you want straight whiter teeth then ceramic veneers or crowns could be the answer.
This involves firstly, reshaping your teeth, taking into account any irregularities or discrepancies that you don’t like about your teeth and areas that you wish to improve. Impressions or 3D scans are made of your teeth and then sent to one of many dental laboratories around the country. The restorations are custom made, carefully matching the size, shape and colour so as to blend in naturally with your surrounding teeth.
The final pressed ceramic crown is an extremely thin but very strong shell like structure which is then carefully cemented over your existing tooth.
Composite Bonding
Cosmetic dental bonding can be a good way to improve the shape and colour of your teeth in a single visit. Composite bonding uses tooth coloured resin to recontour and shape your teeth leading to huge improvements in a smile.
The procedure is safe and painless and allows you to instantly see amazing results.
